What E09 actually means
The fridge freezer has lost a sensible reading from the temperature sensor in the ice maker, so it has flagged a fault on the display rather than carry on guessing.
On this Teknix American-style model the ice maker has its own temperature sensor, and the control board watches it to decide when a batch of cubes has frozen and can be released. When that reading goes out of range or disappears altogether, the board reports the fault in the freezer temperature area of the display. Cooling in the fridge and freezer compartments normally carries on as usual — it is the automatic ice making that stops behaving properly, and in practice that is the symptom people notice first.
What E09 looks like on a Teknix fridge freezer

What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Switch the appliance off at the wall for a minute, then back on — an occasional false reading will clear and not return
- Check nothing is jammed or frozen solid in the ice compartment or the cube chute, and clear any loose ice by hand
- Make sure the ice maker is switched on at the display and that the water supply tap behind the appliance is open
