What C00 actually means
C00 isn't a fault — it's the first step of the machine's built-in service test, checking the main program and the door lock.
On Whirlpool washers with the Zen-style diagnostic mode, the C codes are test stages, not failures. C00 is the opening stage: it runs the main program function and operates the door lock, then reports back any stored fault codes connected with that part of the machine — the F02, F05, F07, F08, F13, F20, F21, F24, F26, F27, F29, F36 and F60 family. If you're seeing C00 on the display, the machine has been put into test mode rather than broken down, and the code that matters is whichever F code it throws up during or after that stage.
What C00 looks like on a Whirlpool washing machine

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then switch back on — this normally drops it out of test mode
- Turn the programme dial to a normal wash and see whether it starts and locks the door as usual
- Check the door shuts fully and the catch isn't blocked by clothing, since C00 exercises the door lock
- Note down any F code that appears — that is the code worth quoting to an engineer
