What is actually happening
Where the water shows itself matters more than how much there is. Water at the front under the door points at the door seal; water at the back points at hose connections; water appearing from underneath the middle during a spin is the one to take seriously, because it often means the outer drum seal has gone and the bearings are being washed.
The Electrolux fault codes that point at this
A Electrolux washing machine will usually tell you what it thinks is wrong before anyone opens it up. These are the codes we hold for this make that relate to leaking water:
- E13 — The machine has had to keep topping itself up with water during the cycle, which tells the control board water is escaping somewhere — so it drains down and stops with the door locked.
- E25 — The control board is reading a signal it doesn't trust from the machine's flood-protection sensing, so it drains the drum and stops the cycle as a precaution.
- E32 — The machine can't get a steady "empty drum" reading from its water level sensor at the start of the cycle, so it stops with the door locked rather than risk filling blind.
- E35 — The machine thinks there is too much water in the drum, so it has stopped the cycle, locked the door and run the drain pump.
- E36 — The machine's own control board has lost a sensible reading from one of its safety water-level (anti-boil) sensors, so it has halted the wash with the door locked.
- E68 — The machine has detected electricity leaking to earth — usually through the water heating element — and has shut itself down as a safety measure.
- E70 — The machine can't read the water temperature, so it refuses to heat.
- E71 — The sensor that tells the machine how hot the wash water is has stopped giving a sensible reading, so the machine has switched off heating.

The usual causes on a Electrolux washing machine
- A split or perished door seal, or one with grit or a chewed section in the folds
- A loose or perished hose connection at the back, or the outlet hose working loose from the standpipe
- A blocked detergent drawer overflowing during fill
- A failed outer drum seal — this usually comes with a grinding noise on spin, and means bearings
- A cracked pump housing or filter seated on a damaged O-ring after cleaning
What you can safely check yourself
- Pull the machine out and look while it fills and again during the spin — note where the water first appears
- Wipe right around the inside of the door seal with a cloth and feel for grit, tears or a chewed patch
- Check the filter cap is seated square and fully tightened if it has recently been cleaned
