Creda E01 hob: what it means & what to check

What E01 actually means

The hob has detected that the electricity reaching it is outside the range it can work with, so it has shut the cooking zones down to protect itself.

The induction electronics on the C60ISC monitor the incoming mains supply all the time. If the voltage sits too high or too low, or dips sharply, the board stops heating and shows this code rather than risk damaging the power components. It usually appears the moment you try to start a zone, or mid-cook without warning, and the zone goes cold while the display stays lit.

What E01 looks like on a Creda hob

What usually causes it

A problem with the mains supply to the kitchen rather than the hob itself
A loose or poor connection where the hob is wired in
Voltage dropping when other heavy appliances such as an oven or shower are running
A fault developing in the hob's own power board
The hob connected through unsuitable wiring or a connection not rated for it

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the hob off at the wall or the fuse switch, leave it a minute, then switch back on — a one-off supply dip will often clear
Note whether other things in the kitchen flicker, trip or misbehave at the same time; if they do, the supply is the more likely suspect
Try starting a zone when nothing else demanding is running, and see whether the code still appears
Check the hob is not fed through an extension lead or adaptor — it needs its own proper fixed connection
