What F04 actually means
The hob has lost a sensible reading from the temperature sensor on one of its induction coils, so it has shut that zone down rather than heat blind.
Each induction coil under the glass has a temperature sensor watching how hot the coil and the glass above it are getting. On the C60ISC, F04 (shown as F4) means the control board is no longer getting a believable signal from that sensor — either it has failed or its connection to the board has. Without it the hob cannot tell whether it is overheating, so it stops rather than risk the glass and the electronics.
What F04 looks like on a Creda hob
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Creda hob, F04 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Not heating up
- Takes ages to get to temperature
- Cuts out part way through cooking
- Noisy fan
- Not getting cold evenly
- Cuts out after a few minutes
- No function at all
- Dead — nothing lights up

What usually causes it
- Failed temperature sensor on the induction coil
- Sensor wiring or plug to the control board come loose or damaged
- Genuine overheating of the coil area, from a pan boiled dry or long high-power use
- Fault on the induction control board itself misreading the sensor
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the hob off, take the pans off and let it cool right down for half an hour before switching on again
- Switch off at the wall or the circuit breaker for a minute, then back on — an overheat trip sometimes clears once the board resets
- Make sure nothing is sitting on the glass keeping heat in, such as a tea towel, board or trivet
- Note whether the code always comes back on the same zone — that is useful information for the engineer
