What F21 actually means
The control panel and the main power board have stopped talking to each other properly, so the machine won't accept commands or run a cycle.
ElectriF21 is an abnormal condition between the display panel and the power board — the two circuit boards that between them read your dial and button presses and switch the drying components on. When the signal between them doesn't check out, the machine stops rather than running blind. In practice you'll see the code appear either as soon as you power up or a short way into a programme, with the dial settings doing nothing.
What F21 looks like on a ElectriQ washer dryer
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a ElectriQ washer dryer, F21 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- No function at all
- Dead — nothing lights up
- Lights flashing and nothing happening
- Programme won't start
- Machine tripping the electrics
- F21 flashing on the display
- Beeping and showing F21
Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.
What usually causes it
- A momentary glitch on the control electronics that clears with a full power-down
- A poor or corroded connection between the display board and the main power board
- A failed display/control board behind the fascia
- A failed main power board
- Damp or steam having got into the control area over time
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the dial to OFF, wait at least 10 seconds and start again — electriQ's own instruction, and it does clear a one-off glitch
- Switch off at the wall socket for a minute, then power back up and try a short programme
- Clean the lint filter and make sure the machine isn't running in a damp, unventilated space where condensation can build up around the controls
Which ElectriQ models show F21
F21 means the same thing on this model. If yours is not listed, the explanation above still applies — the code is set by the control board, not the model number.

- Turn the dial to OFF, wait at least 10 seconds and start again — electriQ's own instruction, and it does clear a one-off glitch.
- Switch off at the wall socket for a minute, then power back up and try a short programme.
- Clean the lint filter and make sure the machine isn't running in a damp, unventilated space where condensation can build up around the controls.
