What F50 actually means

What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the dial to OFF, leave it for at least 10 seconds, then switch back on and restart the programme — this is the first step and does clear one-off glitches
- Take out and clean the lint filter thoroughly, including any fluff caught in the housing, then refit it properly
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute before switching back on if the dial reset alone doesn't clear it
