What E34 actually means

The dryer's moisture sensor isn't reading properly, so the machine can't tell how wet your washing is.

Electrolux dryers use a sensor in the drum to judge dryness and decide when to end the cycle. E34 is logged when the capacitive sensor fails its check with an empty drum and the door closed — in other words, the control board isn't getting a sensible reading back from it. Without that reading the dryer can't run its automatic sensor-dry programmes reliably.

What E34 looks like on a Electrolux tumble dryer

Washing or a stray sock resting against the sensor bar in the drum
A build-up of fabric softener film or lint over the sensor strips
Damp or dirty contacts at the sensor
A broken connection between the sensor and the control board
Faulty control board reading the sensor incorrectly

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Empty the drum completely and make sure nothing is touching or draped over the sensor strips near the door opening
Wipe the sensor strips inside the drum with a damp cloth and dry them — softener residue is a common culprit
Clean the door lint filter and check the drum is not overloaded on the next cycle
Close the door firmly, switch off at the wall for a minute, then restart and see if the code returns
