What E67 actually means
The machine's control board isn't getting a sensible signal back from the circuit that switches the heater on and off, so it carries on washing but without heating the water.
The board monitors the heater relay by watching a feedback signal. If that signal sits outside the expected range for more than a second, the machine flags this fault. It doesn't stop the wash \u2014 the cycle runs to the end, but with the heating element switched off, so clothes come out washed in cold water.
What usually causes it
- A faulty heater relay on the main control board
- A problem with the board's heater sensing circuit
- Poor or corroded connections between board and heating element
- A failed heating element affecting the feedback signal
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then power it back up and run a short cycle \u2014 a one-off glitch can clear
- Run a cold wash to confirm the machine otherwise works normally and only the heating is missing
When to call someone
This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried the checks above. We cover Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, and it's £66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it — £84 in total if it's repaired on the visit with no parts needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.
Outside our area? The explanation above still stands — take it to a local engineer and tell them the code. Knowing it saves them time and you money.
