What H06 actually means

The machine isn't getting the water it expects, so it has halted and flagged a water inlet fault.

On this Flavel the control board watches how long the fill valve is open and whether the drum reaches the right water level. If the water doesn't arrive in the time allowed, it stops the programme rather than carrying on and running the heater or motor in a near-empty drum. You'll usually notice it early in a cycle, or at the point where the machine tries to take fresh water for a rinse.

What H06 looks like on a Flavel washing machine

Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Flavel washing machine, H06 usually shows up as one or more of these:

  • Machine not draining
  • Water left in the drum at the end of the cycle
  • Stops mid-cycle full of water
  • Standing water in the bottom
  • Not filling with water
  • No water going in
  • Takes for ever to fill
  • Stops right at the start of the cycle

Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.

What usually causes it

  • Water tap turned off or only part open
  • Blocked filter in the end of the inlet hose where it screws to the tap
  • Kinked or trapped inlet hose behind the machine
  • Low mains water pressure, or work being done on the supply
  • Faulty inlet valve or pressure/level sensing on the machine itself

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Check the cold tap feeding the machine is fully open — turn it off and on again to confirm it isn't seized part way
  2. Run the tap into a bucket for a few seconds to see whether pressure is normal
  3. Pull the machine forward gently and look for a kink, twist or trapped section in the inlet hose
  4. Turn the tap off, unscrew the hose at the tap end and rinse the small mesh filter inside, then reconnect it hand-tight
  5. Switch off at the wall for a minute, then power up and restart a short cycle

Which Flavel models show H06

H06 means the same thing on this model. If yours is not listed, the explanation above still applies — the code is set by the control board, not the model number.

Can I fix Flavel H06 myself?

There are 5 checks you can safely do yourself first.

  1. Check the cold tap feeding the machine is fully open — turn it off and on again to confirm it isn't seized part way.
  2. Run the tap into a bucket for a few seconds to see whether pressure is normal.
  3. Pull the machine forward gently and look for a kink, twist or trapped section in the inlet hose.
  4. Turn the tap off, unscrew the hose at the tap end and rinse the small mesh filter inside, then reconnect it hand-tight.
  5. Switch off at the wall for a minute, then power up and restart a short cycle.

This sometimes clears with those checks. If it comes back, it needs looking at properly.
