What F07 actually means
The dishwasher can't measure the water coming in, so it stops rather than filling blind — usually the little water turbine (flow meter) in the fill circuit is blocked or damaged.
On these Hotpoint machines the incoming water passes through a small turbine, also called an impeller jug, which spins and tells the control board how much water has gone in. If that signal doesn't arrive, or doesn't match what the board expects, the fill is abandoned and F07 is shown. What the owner sees is a machine that takes water briefly or not at all, then halts early in the cycle with dry, dirty dishes.
What F07 looks like on a Hotpoint dishwasher
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Hotpoint dishwasher, F07 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Not filling with water
- No water going in
- Takes for ever to fill
- Stops right at the start of the cycle
- No function at all
- Dead — nothing lights up
- Lights flashing and nothing happening
- Programme won't start

What usually causes it
- Water turbine (impeller jug) blocked with scale or debris
- Water turbine damaged or its signal failing
- Tap turned off or only part-open, or low water pressure
- Fill hose kinked, crushed behind the machine or restricted
- Restriction in the water chamber slowing the flow rate
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Check the water tap behind or under the unit is fully open.
- Look along the fill hose for kinks or crush points — pull the machine out only as far as you comfortably can without straining the hose.
- Turn the dishwasher off at the wall for a minute, then back on and restart a short cycle to see if the code returns.
- Clean the filters in the base of the tub and clear any debris around them.
