What F14 actually means
The machine has found a fault with its heating — on a Hotpoint washer dryer this is almost always the drying element — and it has abandoned the cycle rather than carry on cold.
The control board monitors whether the heater is doing its job and, on the EVO1-based washer dryers, F14 is flagged specifically against the dryer element. If the board asks for heat during the drying stage and sees no temperature rise, or sees an electrical fault in the element circuit, it halts and shows the code. Hotpoint's older basic-type control list describes F14 more broadly as a water heating fault, so on some machines it can point at the wash heater instead — the symptom the owner sees is the giveaway.

- Feel whether the load comes out cold and soaking after a drying cycle — that confirms no heat is being produced.
