What E30 actually means

The machine can't lock its door, so it won't start the cycle.

Before any washing machine takes on water it has to lock the door shut. On these Montpellier models the control board tries to engage the door lock six times, and if it still doesn't get confirmation that the door is locked it abandons the attempt and shows E30. Nothing else happens after that — the drum won't turn and no water goes in.

Worn or broken door lock (interlock) assembly — the usual culprit
A damaged or misaligned door catch/striker so the lock has nothing to grip
Wiring between the control board and the door lock come loose or chafed
Main control board fault — possible, but uncommon

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Open the door and push it firmly shut again until you hear it click — a single sleeve or towel corner caught in the seal is enough to hold it off the catch.
Look at the catch on the door and the recess it goes into for anything obviously bent, broken or clogged with detergent residue.
Take some washing out if the drum is overfilled and the load is pressing against the door.
Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then power it back up and try a short cycle — this clears the lock attempt counter.
