What E33 actually means

The machine has lost the signal from the part that tells it how much water is in the drum, so it has shut the water valve and stopped rather than risk filling blind.

Montpellier washers use a water level sensor (pressure sensor) to judge when the drum has enough water. When the control board gets no usable signal from that sensor, it closes the inlet valve and puts E33 on the display — so you typically see the cycle die early, often with little or no water in the drum and no attempt to fill. It is a protective stop: without a level reading the machine has no safe way to know when to stop filling.

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then switch back on and try a short cycle — the odd one-off reading does clear
Check the water tap is fully open and the fill hose isn't kinked, so you can rule out a plain fill problem
Make sure the drain hose isn't pushed too far down the standpipe or lying in water, which can upset the level reading
