Stop using it for now. Carrying on with this fault risks further damage or a leak. Switch it off at the wall until it has been looked at.

What F07 actually means

The machine thinks the water has got too hot, or the temperature sensor is giving a false reading, so it has stopped the cycle.

A sensor in the drum monitors water temperature throughout the wash. If it reports a temperature above roughly 77°C, or the heating behaves in a way the control board doesn't expect, the machine shuts the programme down and shows F07. In most cases the water isn't genuinely boiling — the sensor or the board controlling the heater has failed.

What usually causes it

  • Faulty water temperature sensor (NTC) giving a false high reading
  • Heating element stuck on because the control board isn't switching it off
  • Damaged or corroded wiring to the sensor
  • Control board fault
  • Genuine overheating due to very low water level in the drum

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Turn the machine off at the wall socket for a minute, then switch back on and try a cool wash such as a 30°C cycle
  2. Check the cold fill hose isn't kinked and the tap is fully open, so the drum fills properly
  3. Clean the filter and make sure the drain hose isn't blocked or kinked

When to call someone

This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried the checks above. We cover Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, and it's £66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it — £84 in total if it's repaired on the visit with no parts needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.

Outside our area? The explanation above still stands — take it to a local engineer and tell them the code. Knowing it saves them time and you money.
