Stop using it for now. Carrying on with this fault risks further damage or a leak. Switch it off at the wall until it has been looked at.

What E67 actually means

The dryer's control board has lost proper control of the switch that drives the fan motor, so it has shut the cycle down rather than run the heater with no reliable airflow.

Inside the ENV06-type control board there's a solid-state switch (a triac) that turns the fan motor on and off. On E67 the board can see that this switching circuit isn't behaving as it should — either the fan motor circuit isn't connected properly or the CRM control board itself has failed. Because a dryer that heats without moving air is a genuine overheating risk, the machine stops instead of carrying on.

What E67 looks like on a Zanussi tumble dryer

Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Zanussi tumble dryer, E67 usually shows up as one or more of these:

  • Machine door won't open
  • Door won't lock or click shut
  • Door lock light flashing
  • Door stuck shut with the load inside
  • Won't start even with the door closed
  • Not drying
  • Blowing cold air
  • Clothes still damp at the end

Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.

What usually causes it

  • Loose or disconnected fan motor wiring at the board
  • Failed triac on the CRM control board
  • Damaged or chafed wiring in the fan motor loom
  • Fan motor fault dragging the drive circuit down

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Turn the dryer off at the wall for a minute, then power it back up and start a cycle — occasionally the board clears a one-off glitch
  2. Clean the door filter and, on condenser models, the condenser filter, and make sure the machine isn't jammed tight against a wall restricting airflow
  3. Note whether you can hear the fan running at all before the code appears — that's genuinely useful information for the engineer
