What E94 actually means
The dryer's control board has lost or corrupted the settings that tell it how to run the drying programme, so it has abandoned the cycle.
Every Zanussi dryer control board carries stored configuration data (held in an EEPROM) covering how each drying cycle should behave. E94 means the board has read that data for the selected cycle and found it wrong or unreadable, so rather than run a programme it cannot define, it interrupts the cycle. It is closely related to E93, which flags a configuration fault for the appliance as a whole rather than the drying cycle specifically.
What E94 looks like on a Zanussi tumble dryer
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Zanussi tumble dryer, E94 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- No function at all
- Dead — nothing lights up
- Lights flashing and nothing happening
- Programme won't start
- Machine tripping the electrics
- E94 flashing on the display
- Beeping and showing E94
Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.
What usually causes it
- Corrupted configuration data stored in the control board's memory
- A control board that has failed internally
- A replacement board fitted without being configured for the model
- Electrical interference or a power interruption that scrambled the stored settings
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the dryer off at the wall socket, leave it a minute, then switch back on and try the cycle again — an occasional one-off glitch will clear this way
- Try a different programme; if only one cycle throws the fault it is worth mentioning to the engineer

Can I fix Zanussi E94 myself?
There are 2 checks you can safely do yourself first.
- Turn the dryer off at the wall socket, leave it a minute, then switch back on and try the cycle again — an occasional one-off glitch will clear this way.
- Try a different programme; if only one cycle throws the fault it is worth mentioning to the engineer.
This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried them.

Tried the checks and it's still showing E94?
This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried the checks above. Then it wants someone who can open it up.
