What E32 actually means
The dryer's moisture sensor is reading almost nothing, so the machine can't tell how wet the laundry is and stops the cycle.
Zanussi condenser dryers on the Env06 control board judge dryness by passing a small current between metal sensor strips inside the drum — damp washing conducts, dry washing doesn't. E32 means the signal coming back from that conductimetric sensor is far too low or absent, which the board treats as an implausible reading rather than "dry", so it halts the programme instead of running blind. The service data points at the sensor's wiring, worn contact brushes in the sensing circuit, or the control board itself.
What E32 looks like on a Zanussi tumble dryer
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Zanussi tumble dryer, E32 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Machine door won't open
- Door won't lock or click shut
- Door lock light flashing
- Door stuck shut with the load inside
- Won't start even with the door closed
- Machine not draining
- Water left in the drum at the end of the cycle
- Stops mid-cycle full of water
Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.
What usually causes it
- A film of fabric softener, fluff or limescale coating the metal sensor strips in the drum
- Worn or dirty contact brushes in the sensor circuit
- Damaged or loose wiring to the moisture sensor
- Faulty main electronic control board
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Look for the metal strips inside the drum (usually near the door opening or on the front of the drum) and wipe them clean with a damp cloth and a little washing-up liquid, then dry them — softener residue is the most common thing masking the signal
- Clean the door filter and the condenser filter, and check the water container is empty
- Try a load that is properly damp rather than nearly dry, as very dry laundry can read low
- Switch off at the wall for a minute, then power up and restart the programme

Can I fix Zanussi E32 myself?
There are 4 checks you can safely do yourself first.
- Look for the metal strips inside the drum (usually near the door opening or on the front of the drum) and wipe them clean with a damp cloth and a little washing-up liquid, then dry them — softener residue is the most common thing masking the signal.
- Clean the door filter and the condenser filter, and check the water container is empty.
- Try a load that is properly damp rather than nearly dry, as very dry laundry can read low.
- Switch off at the wall for a minute, then power up and restart the programme.
This sometimes clears with those checks. If it comes back, it needs looking at properly.

Tried the checks and it's still showing E32?
This sometimes clears with the checks above. If it comes back, it needs looking at properly. Then it wants someone who can open it up.
