What is actually happening
A spin needs three things to be true: the water is gone, the door is locked, and the load is balanced. If any one of them fails the machine skips the spin rather than risk it. Where the wash itself is fine and only the spin fails, the two usual culprits are worn motor carbon brushes on older belt-driven machines, or a load that the machine cannot balance.
The Montpellier fault codes that point at this

- E06 — The machine has lost the signal that tells it how fast the drum is turning, so it won't run the motor.
- E07 — The washing machine's control board has lost or mismatched its settings, so it doesn't know which model it is meant to be running as and stops.
- E08 — The machine has detected that the electricity reaching it is outside the range it needs, so it has stopped rather than run on a bad supply.
- E09 — The machine has detected that the mains electricity reaching it is outside the range it's designed to run on, so it has stopped the cycle.
- E11 — The machine has lost contact with the drum motor, so it won't turn the drum.
- E17 — The machine has spotted too much foam in the drum repeatedly and has cut the wash short rather than carry on.
- E18 — The wash finished but the machine couldn't spin the load because it was unevenly spread in the drum, so your washing is still very wet.
- E20 — The machine has stopped because it cannot see the drain pump working, so the water in the drum isn't going anywhere.

The usual causes on a Montpellier washing machine
