AEG E67 tumble dryer: what it means & what to check

What E67 actually means

The dryer's control board has lost proper control of the fan motor's switching device, so it stops rather than run the fan blindly.

On these AEG dryers the fan motor is switched by a triac on the control board (the CRM board). E67 is raised when the board's check on that triac control fails — in other words it cannot confirm it is genuinely governing the fan. Because drying without airflow means heat builds up in the drum and ducting, the machine will not carry on with the cycle.

What E67 looks like on a AEG tumble dryer

Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a AEG tumble dryer, E67 usually shows up as one or more of these:

Not drying
Blowing cold air
Clothes still damp at the end
Takes hours to dry
Drum not turning
Won't spin
Hums or buzzes but nothing moves

What usually causes it

A loose or disconnected plug on the fan motor wiring
Fault on the CRM control board itself, usually around the triac
Damaged or chafed wiring in the loom between board and fan motor
Poor connections after previous repair or a motor that has been overheating

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the dryer off at the wall for a minute, then switch back on and restart a cycle — if the code was a one-off glitch it may clear
Clear the lint filters and, on a condenser model, rinse the condenser filter; heavy blockage makes the fan and motor work hard and can lead to related fan faults
Check the outlet hose on a vented model is not kinked, crushed against the wall or blocked
