What E32 actually means

The machine can't get a sensible reading from the temperature sensor in its drying air duct, so it won't dry properly.

E32 means the temperature sensor (an NTC thermistor) fitted in the heater/condenser duct is reading outside its expected range \u short-circuited, open circuit or disconnected. Without a trustworthy temperature reading the control board can't manage the drying heater safely, so it either drags the programme out or refuses to dry at all. This is a wash-dryer fault rather than anything to do with washing water temperature.

What usually causes it

  • Temperature sensor in the drying duct has failed
  • Sensor plug has worked loose or corroded
  • Damaged wiring between sensor and control board
  • Faulty control or display board misreading the sensor
  • Blocked condenser or air duct upsetting temperatures

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then switch back on and try a drying programme again
  2. Clean the filter and check the condenser filter/grille area if your model has one that's accessible from the front
  3. Make sure the machine isn't jammed tight against a wall so air can circulate

When to call someone

This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried the checks above. We cover Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, and it's £66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it — £84 in total if it's repaired on the visit with no parts needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.

Outside our area? The explanation above still stands — take it to a local engineer and tell them the code. Knowing it saves them time and you money.
