Stop using it for now. Carrying on with this fault risks further damage or a leak. Switch it off at the wall until it has been looked at.

What E37 actually means

The machine has measured too high a temperature at the drum air inlet during drying and has cut the drying cycle short to protect itself.

This code only applies to Beko washer-dryers. A sensor sits where the heated air enters the drum, and if it reads an over-temperature the control board shuts the heaters and drying down. Typical symptoms are the programme finishing much earlier than it should with the load still damp, and the door glass and surround feeling unusually hot.

What usually causes it

  • Blocked or clogged condenser restricting airflow
  • Fluff and lint build-up in the air path or filter
  • Drying with too small a load, or none at all, so heat isn't carried away
  • Faulty drum inlet temperature sensor giving a false high reading
  • Air heaters staying on when they shouldn't, or a weak process fan

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then try a drying cycle again
  2. Clean out the pump/fluff filter at the bottom front and check it is screwed back in fully
  3. Make sure the drying load is a sensible size — very small loads can trip the overheat protection
  4. Check the machine isn't pushed hard against a wall or boxed in, so it can breathe

When to call someone

This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried the checks above. We cover Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, and it's £66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it — £84 in total if it's repaired on the visit with no parts needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.

Outside our area? The explanation above still stands — take it to a local engineer and tell them the code. Knowing it saves them time and you money.
