What E43 actually means

The drying side of your washer dryer is getting too hot, so the machine has shut the cycle down to protect itself.

E43 comes up on Beko washer dryers when the drying air circuit isn't shedding heat properly s sensors see the drum or condenser running hotter than allowed. The machine blames one of three things: the air heaters, the process fan that pushes air through the drum, or a blocked condenser. It stops the programme rather than carry on heating.

What E43 looks like on a Beko washing machine

Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Beko washing machine, E43 usually shows up as one or more of these:

  • Machine not draining
  • Water left in the drum at the end of the cycle
  • Stops mid-cycle full of water
  • Standing water in the bottom
  • Not filling with water
  • No water going in
  • Takes for ever to fill
  • Stops right at the start of the cycle

Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.

What usually causes it

  • Blocked or scaled-up condenser, so hot air can't be cooled
  • Process fan not running, or not moving enough air
  • Failed fan capacitor or a poor connection at the fan
  • Air heaters staying on when they should switch off
  • Running a drying programme with an empty drum

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then restart and choose a wash-only programme to see whether washing still works normally.
  2. Clean the pump filter at the bottom front and check the drain hose isn't kinked or pushed too far into the standpipe same water that washes the condenser has to drain away.
  3. Make sure the water tap is fully on and the inlet hose isn't kinked the condenser needs a proper water supply to rinse itself.
  4. Don't run drying with an empty drum, and don't overload it pack the drum too tight and the air can't circulate.
