Stop using it for now. Carrying on with this fault risks further damage or a leak. Switch it off at the wall until it has been looked at.

What E70 actually means

The machine has lost a sensible signal from the sensor that monitors its AquaTech water-recirculation system, so it has stopped the programme.

Beko's AquaTech models spray recirculated water through the load rather than relying on drum tumbling alone. A magnetic (reed) sensor tells the control board that water is flowing round properly, and E70 means that sensor is reading as short-circuited. Because the machine can no longer confirm water is being circulated correctly, it halts rather than carry on and risk a poor or unsafe wash.

What usually causes it

  • Faulty AquaTech flow sensor
  • Damaged or chafed sensor wiring inside the machine
  • A loose or corroded connector on the drum area
  • Water ingress into the sensor plug
  • Control board fault reading the sensor

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then switch back on and try a short cycle — occasionally the code clears
  2. Check the machine isn't overloaded and the door shuts cleanly, then run a short wash to see if the code returns
  3. Clean the pump filter at the bottom front and make sure the drain hose isn't kinked, so water can move freely

When to call someone

This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried the checks above. We cover Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, and it's £66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it — £84 in total if it's repaired on the visit with no parts needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.

Outside our area? The explanation above still stands — take it to a local engineer and tell them the code. Knowing it saves them time and you money.
