What E87 actually means

The machine has flagged a problem with its microfibre filter system in the detergent drawer area — water isn't flowing through that filter as it should.

E87 is really a service-mode diagnostic code that Beko engineers see when testing the microfibre filter (MFF) circuit, usually at installation. It means water is not reaching or passing through the filter correctly, most often because the diverter valve that sends water to it isn't working, or because the flow hole in the drawer is blocked. It isn't a code most owners will ever be shown during a normal wash.

What usually causes it

  • Diverter valve not working, so water never reaches the microfibre filter
  • Blocked or clogged flow hole in the detergent drawer
  • Microfibre filter cartridge missing, wrongly fitted or clogged
  • Wiring or control fault in the diverter valve circuit
  • Test carried out incorrectly during installation

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then switch back on to see if the code clears
  2. Pull out the detergent drawer, rinse it under the tap and check the microfibre filter cartridge is properly seated
  3. If your model has a removable microfibre filter, clean it as the instruction book describes and refit it fully
  4. Check the drawer slides all the way home with nothing obstructing it

When to call someone

This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried the checks above. We cover Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, and it's £66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it — £84 in total if it's repaired on the visit with no parts needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.

Outside our area? The explanation above still stands — take it to a local engineer and tell them the code. Knowing it saves them time and you money.
