What F00 actually means
The machine thinks the lid isn't properly shut, so it has stopped rather than spin with the lid open.
On these top-loading Beko machines there's a safety switch that has to confirm the lid is closed before the drum is allowed to move. This code is logged when that switch reads as open, and the machine halts mid-cycle for safety. You'll usually see it at the point the drum is about to agitate or spin.
What usually causes it
- Lid not pushed fully down, or something caught under it
- Washing piled up so the lid can't seat properly
- Worn or misaligned lid catch
- Faulty lid safety switch
- Wiring to the safety switch broken or disconnected
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Open the lid, redistribute the load so nothing is trapped in the opening, and close it firmly until it clicks
- Check the lid seats level and doesn't spring back up
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then switch back on and restart the programme
- Look for detergent residue or debris around the lid catch and wipe it clean
