What F04 actually means
The machine has spotted that the water heater is being switched on when it shouldn't be, so it has stopped the programme to avoid heating the load uncontrolled.
Beko's control board monitors when the heating element is called for. F04 is logged when the heater appears to stay energised outside the heating stage of the wash — for example during a rinse, when nothing should be heated at all. Because uncontrolled heating is a safety risk, the board shuts the cycle down rather than carrying on.
What F04 looks like on a Beko washing machine
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Beko washing machine, F04 usually shows up as one or more of these:

What usually causes it
- A failed relay on the main control board that has stuck closed, keeping the heater live
- A heater element that has gone short circuit
- Damaged or poorly seated wiring between the board and the element
- Water ingress or scorching on the board from an earlier heater fault
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall socket, leave it a minute, then switch back on and see whether the code clears — if it returns, stop there.
- Note whether the drum water feels hot at the wrong point in the cycle, or the door glass gets warm during a rinse; that information helps the engineer.
