Stop using it for now. Carrying on with this fault risks further damage or a leak. Switch it off at the wall until it has been looked at.

What F11 actually means

The machine has filled with water but the drum will not turn, so it has given up on the programme.

F11 means the control board has asked the motor to spin and got nothing usable back — either the motor isn't turning at all, or the board isn't receiving speed information from it. On these Beko machines the board makes several attempts a couple of minutes apart before it stops, pumps the water out and drops back to programme selection, which is why you often find the wash abandoned with wet, soapy laundry inside.

What usually causes it

  • A loose or dislodged plug on the motor wiring
  • Faulty motor speed sensor (tacho) or its magnet
  • Worn or failed motor windings
  • Damaged motor cabling between board and motor
  • Failed control or motor board

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then power it back up and try a short programme — an occasional one-off will clear.
  2. Open the door and check nothing large is jammed between the drum and the tub that would physically stop it turning.
  3. With the machine switched off at the wall, turn the drum by hand — it should rotate freely; if it is solid or grinding, note that for the engineer.

When to call someone

This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried the checks above. We cover Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, and it's £66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it — £84 in total if it's repaired on the visit with no parts needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.

Outside our area? The explanation above still stands — take it to a local engineer and tell them the code. Knowing it saves them time and you money.
