What F13 actually means
The main control board has lost communication with the motor's own control board, so the drum can't be told to turn.
On Beko machines with a brushless (BLDC) motor, the motor has its own small control board that takes instructions from the main board. F13 means those instructions aren't getting through at all, so the drum stays still and the programme stops part-way, usually with water and wet washing left in the drum. It's worth knowing the difference from F11: with F11 the two boards are still talking but the motor won't move, whereas F13 is purely a breakdown in communication between them.
What usually causes it
- A connector between the main board and the motor control board pushed off or not seated properly
- Damaged or chafed wiring in the loom running down to the motor
- A failed motor control board on the motor itself
- A fault on the main control board
- Loss of the mains supply to the board through the noise filter
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then switch back on and try a short programme — an occasional one-off glitch will clear
- Check the plug and socket are sound and the machine isn't running off a damaged extension lead
- If the drum is full of water, use a drain or spin-only programme once; if it also refuses to spin, leave it and get it looked at
