Beko F09 washing machine: what it means & what to check

What F09 actually means

The machine can't operate the door lock properly, so it stops rather than run a cycle with the door unsecured.

F09 is an open circuit in the door lock triac — the small switching component on the main control board that sends power to the door interlock. Because the board can no longer be sure the door is held shut, the cycle is abandoned. Typically the owner finds a machine that won't start, or one that has stopped part way with water still in the drum and wet, soapy washing inside.

What F09 looks like on a Beko washing machine

What usually causes it

A failed door lock switching circuit on the main control board (the usual finding)
A loose or corroded plug between the control board and the door interlock
A faulty door interlock itself, dragging the board's circuit down
A door that isn't latching fully, so the lock never confirms

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then switch back on and try a short cycle — the code occasionally clears if it was a one-off.
Open and close the door firmly and check nothing (a sock, a trapped sleeve) is stopping the catch engaging.
If the drum still holds water, drain it through the filter at the bottom front before touching anything else, and take the washing out.
