Stop using it for now. Carrying on with this fault risks further damage or a leak. Switch it off at the wall until it has been looked at.

What E80 actually means

The machine's main circuit board has a fault in the part that controls the door lock, so it stops the wash rather than carry on.

Beko's own service data lists E80 as a short circuit on the door lock triac — the switching component on the control board that sends power to the door interlock. Because the board can no longer be sure it can lock and release the door safely, the program is abandoned. The remedy given by Beko is replacement of the control board, so this is not a wear-and-tear or blockage fault.

What usually causes it

  • A failed switching component on the main control board
  • A power surge or spike damaging the board
  • Moisture or detergent vapour reaching the board
  • A shorted or damaged door interlock dragging the board circuit down

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Turn the machine off at the wall socket for a minute, then switch back on and try a short cycle — occasionally the code is a one-off after a power interruption
  2. Check the door shuts and latches cleanly without washing caught in the seal

When to call someone

This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried the checks above. We cover Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, and it's £66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it — £84 in total if it's repaired on the visit with no parts needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.

Outside our area? The explanation above still stands — take it to a local engineer and tell them the code. Knowing it saves them time and you money.
