What E72 actually means

The machine has shut the cycle down after its control board flagged an internal electrical fault it cannot recover from.

Beko's own service handbook for this control platform lists a group of board-detected electrical faults in this range — motor or tacho open circuit and a short-circuited pump triac among them — but the extracts we hold do not clearly tie E72 to one specific one of those. What is consistent is that the control board has stopped the programme because a reading from a component circuit is outside what it will accept, so the drum or drain behaviour goes wrong and the code latches rather than clearing on its own.

What E72 looks like on a Beko washing machine

What usually causes it

A break in the wiring or connector between the control board and the motor
A faulty tacho (the sensor that tells the board how fast the drum is turning)
A failed switching component on the control board itself, often on the drain pump circuit
A failing drain pump dragging the circuit down
Water or detergent ingress into a connector block

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then switch back on and restart a short programme — a one-off code can clear
Clean the pump filter at the bottom front and check the drain hose is not kinked or blocked, in case the drain side is involved
If the drum will not turn at all, do not force it or keep restarting the programme
