Beko F02 hob: what it means & what to check

What F02 actually means

The hob has detected a problem with the touch controls on its glass top, so it has shut the cooking zones down rather than respond to presses it can't trust.

The control panel works by sensing your fingertip through the glass. When the electronics behind it decide one of those capacitive sensors is reading wrongly — stuck on, dead, or drifting — the hob reports F02 and stops taking commands. The fault for this induction hob points straight at the touch control board rather than anything to do with the heating side, so the zones themselves are usually fine.

What F02 looks like on a Beko hob

What usually causes it

A failed capacitive touch sensor on the control board
Water, spilled liquid or a wet cloth sitting over the touch area
Something left resting on the controls, holding a sensor down
Moisture or heat damage to the control board behind the glass
A damaged or cracked glass top over the sensor area

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Wipe the touch area completely dry with a clean cloth — condensation and spills are a common trigger.
Move pans, cloths, chopping boards and anything else off the control area.
Turn the hob off at the wall or the consumer unit for a minute, then back on, and see whether it clears.
If the hob has been running hard, let it cool fully before trying again.
