What C02 actually means
This isn't a fault — it's the middle of the three-second countdown the machine shows while you hold the buttons to switch the child lock on or off.
On these Blomberg machines, holding the second auxiliary function button counts down on the display as C03, then C02, then C01. At the end of the three seconds the machine confirms what it has done: "Con" when the child lock has been engaged, or "COF" when it has been cancelled. Seeing C02 on its own means you let go of the button part-way through, so nothing was changed.
What C02 looks like on a Blomberg washing machine

What usually causes it
- The button was released before the full three seconds were up
- Child lock being turned on or off, caught mid-countdown
- A button held down accidentally — by a cloth, a cover, or a leaning object
- Attempting to change a setting while child lock is already active, which brings up the same warning
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Hold the second auxiliary function button down for a full three seconds and watch for "Con" or "COF" at the end — that tells you whether the lock is now on or off
- If a programme is running and you need the lock off, hold the first and second auxiliary function buttons together for three seconds
- Check nothing is resting on or pressing against the control panel buttons
- If the display stays stuck on C02 with no button pressed, turn the machine off at the wall for a minute and switch it back on
