Candy E02 washing machine: what it means & what to check

What E02 actually means

The machine hasn't taken in enough water in the time it allows, so it has stopped and flagged a filling fault.

Candy machines watch the water level during the fill phase and expect it to reach the right point within a set time. If the level sensor (pressure switch) doesn't confirm enough water by then, the cycle is abandoned and E02 is displayed — usually with the drum barely wet or dry. The cause is either water not arriving properly, or the machine not measuring the level correctly.

What E02 looks like on a Candy washing machine

What usually causes it

Tap turned off, partly closed, or a blocked inlet filter on the fill hose
Kinked or trapped cold fill hose
Low water pressure at the property, particularly on upstairs plumbing
Faulty inlet solenoid valve not opening when told to
Faulty pressure switch, or a blocked or split pressure hose inside the machine, so the level is never read correctly

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Check the water tap behind the machine is fully open and, if you have one, that a stopcock or valve hasn't been left half-shut
Run a tap elsewhere in the house to confirm you have normal pressure and mains water isn't off
Pull the machine forward gently and make sure the fill hose isn't kinked, crushed against the wall or trapped behind a foot
Turn the machine off at the socket for a minute, switch back on and start a short cycle to see whether the code returns
