What E15 actually means

The washing machine's main control board has either failed or has never been given its software settings, so the machine won't run.

On Candy washing machines this code points at the main power board — Candy call it the "Cuore" card — which drives the motor, valves and heater and keeps track of the programme. The machine either detects that this board is faulty, or that it is fitted but hasn't been programmed for the model it's sitting in. Either way the cycle stops because nothing else on the machine can run without it.
