What E03 actually means
The water isn't getting hot when it should, so the dishwasher gives up on the cycle.
During the wash, the control board watches how quickly the water temperature climbs. If the heater isn't putting any heat in — or the wash pump isn't pushing water over the heater — the temperature never reaches the target in the time allowed and the machine flags E03 and halts. You'll usually notice it part-way through a cycle, often with cold water still in the tub and dishes left greasy.
What E03 looks like on a ElectriQ dishwasher
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a ElectriQ dishwasher, E03 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Dishwasher not draining
- Water left in the tub at the end of the cycle
- Stops mid-cycle full of water
- Standing water in the bottom
- Dishes coming out cold and wet

What usually causes it
- Failed heating element — the internal coil has gone open circuit
- The heater's thermal fuse has tripped and cut the supply
- A loose or corroded connector at the heater, so it never gets power
- Wash pump not circulating water — a failed motor winding or a tired start capacitor means the heater has no flow over it
- Blocked filters or a jammed pump impeller starving the circulation of water
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the dishwasher off at the wall for a minute, then back on and start a short cycle — occasionally the fault won't return
- Lift out and rinse the filter assembly in the base of the tub; poor circulation from a clogged filter can contribute
- Check nothing in the bottom basket or a stray item has dropped down and fouled the spray arm or the sump area
