What E06 actually means
The dishwasher has lost the signal from its water temperature sensor, so it stops rather than heat blind.
The control board watches an NTC thermistor to know how hot the water in the tub is. On E06 that sensor reads as an open circuit — effectively no connection at all — so the board has no temperature reading and shuts the programme down. In the factory test mode the machine halts straight away, sounds the buzzer for about 30 seconds and displays the code, which is why you often see it appear early in a cycle rather than at the end.
What E06 looks like on a ElectriQ dishwasher
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a ElectriQ dishwasher, E06 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Dishwasher door won't open
- Door won't lock or click shut

What usually causes it
- The temperature sensor (thermistor) itself has failed internally
- A loose, corroded or damp connection on the sensor wiring
- Damaged wiring between the sensor and the control board
- A fault on the main control board so it cannot read the sensor
- Water ingress or limescale damage around the sensor in the tub
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the dishwasher off at the wall for a minute, then switch back on and start a short programme — a one-off glitch will clear
- Make sure the door is shut properly on its catch so the cycle actually starts and you can see whether the code returns
- Note at what point in the cycle the code appears; it helps the engineer confirm it is the sensor circuit and not the heater
