What E80 actually means
The two circuit boards inside the machine \u2014 the main control board and the board behind the buttons and display \u2014 have stopped talking to each other, so the machine halts.
Everything you press goes into the display panel, which then has to pass the instruction to the main control board and get status back. When that link goes quiet, the machine has no way of knowing what it has been told to do or reporting what it is doing, so it stops and shows E80 rather than carry on blind. On these ElectriQ washer-dryers it typically appears mid-cycle, and the drum will stop wherever it happens to be.
What E80 looks like on a ElectriQ tumble dryer
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a ElectriQ tumble dryer, E80 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Very noisy on spin
- Banging or knocking
- Moving across the floor
- Load left soaking wet because it won't spin up
- No function at all

- The ribbon or plug joining the display panel to the main control board has worked loose
- A damaged or chafed section of the main wiring harness between the two boards
- A failed communication terminal on the main control board
- A failed communication terminal on the display panel board
- Vibration over time gradually easing a connector out of its housing
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall socket, leave it for a minute, then switch back on \u2014 if the fault was a one-off glitch it will clear
- Note whether E80 comes up straight away at switch-on or only part way through a cycle, and whether it happens on every programme; that information saves an engineer time
