ElectriQ E37 tumble dryer: what it means & what to check

What E37 actually means

The sensor that measures the temperature of the air being drawn in for drying has stopped giving the control board a sensible reading, so the machine halts the drying side of the cycle.

During drying, the control board watches the temperature at the intake port to decide how much heat to apply. If that sensor reads as a short circuit or an open circuit — in other words, no believable change in temperature — the board stops rather than heat blind, and puts up E37. E37 is a sensor, wiring or control board problem; there is nothing in the drum or the load that causes it.

What usually causes it

A loose or partly pushed-off connector at the intake temperature sensor
Damaged or chafed wiring between the sensor and the control board

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then power it back up and start a drying cycle — if the reading was a momentary glitch it will clear
Note whether washing still completes normally and only drying fails; that is useful information for the engineer
