What F24 actually means
The machine thinks there's too much water in the drum, so it has stopped filling and locked the cycle out.
ElectriQ machines watch the water level with a pressure sensor. If that sensor reports a level above the safe maximum \u2014 or reports it at a point in the cycle where it shouldn't \u2014 the machine calls an overflow and halts rather than risk water coming out of the door or detergent drawer. The manufacturer's own advice for this one is short: turn it off and restart it. If it clears and never comes back, the reading was a one-off.
What usually causes it
- A one-off false reading from the water level sensor
- Drain hose pushed too far into a standpipe or sitting in waste water, so water siphons back in
- Too much detergent creating heavy foam that fools the level sensor
- A faulty pressure sensor or blocked pressure chamber hose
- Water inlet valve leaking through and letting water in when it shouldn't
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Switch off at the wall for a minute, then power up and try a short cycle
- Check the end of the drain hose isn't sitting down in standing water in the standpipe or sink trap \u2014 lift it clear
- Make sure the drain hose isn't kinked or crushed behind the machine
- If you've been using a lot of detergent, run a rinse and spin with none at all and see whether it completes
- Clean the filter at the bottom front so the machine can empty freely
