What E63 actually means
The safety thermostat on the dryer's heater has tripped because the heater got too hot, so the machine has cut power to the heating element.
On these Electrolux ENV06 boards, the heater unit has its own auto-reset thermostat. When it trips, the control board switches the heater off and logs E63 \u2014 you'll usually see clothes coming out damp or the drum turning with cold air. The board will try to restore power to the heater; if the thermostat keeps tripping, it eventually reports E62 instead. On the fascia this shows as six green flashes followed by red flashes.
What usually causes it
- Restricted airflow through the filters, condenser or vent hose, making the heater overheat
- The heater unit's own thermostat tripping repeatedly and needing the heater assembly replaced
- A faulty heating element
- Damaged or loose wiring at the heater
- Faulty main control board (least common)
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Clean the door filter and any secondary fluff filter \u2014 blocked filters are far and away the usual cause of the heater overheating
- On condenser models, rinse out the condenser unit and clear fluff from its housing
- Check the vent hose (if fitted) isn't kinked, crushed behind the machine or blocked at the outside vent
- Make sure the machine isn't pushed hard against a wall and has room to breathe
- Turn it off at the wall for a minute, then run a short cycle to see whether the fault returns

This sometimes clears with the checks above. If it comes back, it needs looking at properly.
