The control board has detected electricity leaking to earth — most often through one of the heating elements — and has shut the machine down as a safety measure.

The board constantly monitors the voltage across the heater relay circuit. If that reading sits outside its normal limits for more than about ten seconds, it takes it as a sign that current is escaping to earth somewhere in the heating circuit and stops the cycle rather than carrying on.
