What F14 actually means
The control panel and the appliance's stored settings don't match, so the electronics have shut things down rather than run with the wrong configuration.
Electrolux calls this a configuration compatibility alarm on the user interface board. The software running on the control panel and the settings held in its memory are supposed to be a matched pair; when the board finds they aren't, it flags the fault and holds it on the display. On the interface itself you may see it shown as F214 rather than F14 — the extra '1' or '2' is the board's way of pointing at where the problem sits, and here it points at the user interface. It usually stays on screen permanently rather than clearing on its own.
