Grundig E07 washing machine: what it means & what to check

What E07 actually means

The machine can't get a sensible reading from the sensor that tells it how much water is in the drum, so it stops rather than risk filling or draining blind.

Grundig machines use a pressure sensor (level sensor) connected to the tub by a small air hose to judge the water level. When the control board gets a reading it can't make sense of — or no reading at all — it flags E07 and halts, usually early in the cycle around filling. Some models also sound an error melody with it. Because the machine no longer knows whether it is empty or full, it won't continue.

What E07 looks like on a Grundig washing machine

Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Grundig washing machine, E07 usually shows up as one or more of these:

Machine not draining
Water left in the drum at the end of the cycle
Stops mid-cycle full of water
Standing water in the bottom
Not filling with water
No water going in

What usually causes it

The plug on the level sensor has worked loose or corroded
The little air hose between the tub and the sensor is split, kinked or blocked with sludge
A failed pressure/level sensor
A fault on the control board's sensor circuit

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Switch the machine off at the wall for a minute, then turn it back on and start a short cycle — an occasional one-off reading error can clear.
Check the drain hose isn't kinked or pushed too far down the standpipe, and clear the pump filter at the front so the drum isn't sitting with water in it.
