What E15 actually means
The machine has lost a sensible signal from its flowmeter — the small sensor that counts how much water is going in.
Grundig machines measure fill by counting pulses from a flowmeter on the water inlet, and cross-check that against the level sensor. When the control board sees either a short circuit or no signal at all from that flowmeter, it logs E15. Grundig's own service notes point out that the customer often can't tell anything is wrong — the wash may carry on more or less normally — so this frequently turns up as a stored fault rather than a machine that has stopped dead.
What usually causes it
- Loose or dislodged plug at the flowmeter itself
- Loose connection at the KN20 socket on the control board
- Damaged or chafed wiring between the flowmeter and the board
- Faulty flowmeter
- Fault on the control board's sensing circuit
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then back on, and see whether the code returns
- Check the inlet hose is not kinked and the tap is fully open, so the fill is at normal pressure
- Clean the inlet filter where the hose meets the machine if fills have been slow
