What E24 actually means

The machine can't get a reading from the sensor that weighs the laundry, so it stops rather than guessing the load size.

These Grundig machines use a load sensor mounted on the suspension to work out how much washing is in the drum, which sets the water and cycle length. E24 is raised when the control board gets no usable signal from that sensor or its wiring, so it can't judge the load and won't carry on. The sensor itself is fine mechanically he sversion of the fault the machine reports is purely electrical.
