What E24 actually means
The machine can't get a reading from the sensor that weighs the laundry, so it stops rather than guessing the load size.
These Grundig machines use a load sensor mounted on the suspension to work out how much washing is in the drum, which sets the water and cycle length. E24 is raised when the control board gets no usable signal from that sensor or its wiring, so it can't judge the load and won't carry on. The sensor itself is fine mechanically he sversion of the fault the machine reports is purely electrical.
What E24 looks like on a Grundig washing machine
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Grundig washing machine, E24 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Very noisy on spin
- Banging or knocking
- Moving across the floor
- Load left soaking wet because it won't spin up
- No function at all
- Dead — nothing lights up
- Lights flashing and nothing happening
- Programme won't start
Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.
What usually causes it
- Loose or dislodged plug at the load sensor card
- Damaged wiring between the sensor and the main board
- Failed load sensor card itself
- Sensor mounting on the shock absorber disturbed, often after the machine has been moved or transported
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then switch back on and start a short programme \u2014 an occasional one-off reading fault can clear
- Check the machine is standing level and hasn't been shifted or knocked recently
Which Grundig models show E24
E24 means the same thing on all 2 of these models. If yours is not listed, the explanation above still applies — the code is set by the control board, not the model number.
