What E45 actually means

The washing machine's control board has lost the settings file that tells it how to run your model, so it refuses to start.

E45 means the board either cannot find that file or is reading it as invalid, so it shuts down rather than run blind. The usual picture is a machine that does nothing at all with the programme selector LEDs flashing.
