What E70 actually means

The machine has spotted an electrical short on the water-flow (Aquatech reed) sensor circuit and has stopped rather than carry on blind.

Grundig's Aquatech system sprays and recirculates water through the load, and a reed sensor tells the control board that the flow is actually happening. When the board reads that sensor as short-circuited, it can no longer trust what it's being told about water movement, so it flags the fault and halts the programme. The tell-tale symptom owners describe is not seeing the usual spray or water movement in the drum before the cycle stops.

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, switch back on and restart the programme — a one-off read error will clear
Check the water tap is fully open and the inlet hose isn't kinked or trapped behind the machine, so the sensor has real flow to detect
Clean the pump filter at the bottom front and make sure the drain hose isn't kinked, so the machine can drain and refill normally
