What E02 actually means

The machine can't heat the water he heating element, so it has stopped and flagged the heater as electrically broken.

E02 on a Grundig washer means the control board has looked for the heating element and found no electrical circuit through it im story is a heater that has failed open, often after limescale or a hotspot has burnt the element.
